Movie Dub: Your Voice, Someone Else's Movie

Movie Dub: Your Voice, Someone Else's Movie

Everyone has a favourite movie line they quote a little too often. Movie Dub lets you go further: take a scene, replace the actors' voices with your own, and play it back to a room that will never let you forget it.

How Movie Dub Works

Pick a scene from the library — Cluso includes example scenes to start with — or import your own dub pack. Then record it line by line: hear the original, then say each line in time with the picture. When you're done, play the scene back with your voice in place of the original and compare the two. Movie Dub works for 1 to 6 players and is part of Cluso Pro.

Recording Line by Line

Each scene shows its cast, with every line tagged by character, so you always know who you're voicing. Tap the waveform to hear the original line, then record your take and keep pace with the picture. With headphones on, the original can play in your ear while you record, which makes the timing much easier. Didn't like a take? Go back and redo just that line — finished lines are kept.

Get Scored If You Dare

Turn on scoring and the app rates each take on timing, pacing and delivery, then gives the whole scene a score. It also points out your best line and the one worth another go. For a competitive night, have everyone dub the same scene and compare scene scores — or ignore the numbers entirely and judge by laughter.

Tips for a Better Dub

Watch the original once before you record, so you know where every pause lands. Keep your eyes on the picture rather than the text — timing matters more than getting every word perfect. Commit to the character's energy, even if you sound nothing like them. And if a line keeps going wrong, record it again straight away while the rhythm is still fresh.

Party Ideas

Movie Dub is at its best with a small group. Split the cast so each friend voices a different character, then watch the finished scene together. Try a genre swap: play a dramatic scene as a comedy, or read an action scene in the calmest voice possible. Or go for accuracy and see who can match the original delivery most closely.

Share Your Version

When the dub is done, export the video and share it with your friends. The scenes included in the app are licensed or public domain and carry their credit, and the credit notice appears before every export. If you import your own scenes, it's up to you to make sure you have the right to use them — keep the credit with it if you post it.

Movie Dub turns any group into a dubbing studio, no equipment required. Open it in Cluso, pick a scene, and give it the voice it never knew it needed.
